My First Blog - Finding Purpose by Mark Williams

Brave, inspirational, genuine, warrior, are some of the things I get called lately. but it's not always been that way I can assure you.

 Violent, aggressive, impatient, lost cause, and of course my favorite defiant! I've never been one to follow the rules and despite reforming into the man I am today I still have that rebellious streak! I suppose I've lived the average life of a Welsh valleys lad. in and out of trouble, both at school and eventually with the police. I have amazing parents and never went short of anything but despite this I went down the wrong path and stayed on it for many years. I was always in and out of jobs, having a real issue with authority it was difficult for me to take the usual things that are part of holding a job down like turning up on Mondays! I've managed to balls up every opportunity I've been given during the early days of employment. I even tried the military! I was actually really shocked by how well it went, however I was told early on I needed to join the regiment division as they felt I was too rebellious and short tempered for the fire service! and they were right!

I discovered while forming strong bonds with the people around me I was actually really good at helping people, I've always had a protective nature I just didn't know how to channel it! when I left I made a promise to myself to find a career helping people, it was then my career and lifelong purpose began, I've been supporting people in various capacities ever since 16 years roughly, from ex addicts to children in care, I've made mistakes along the way but I'm proud to have turned my life around and have helped so many people, it's been a real privilege and it's something I will never regret! 

I suppose I'm still doing it now but via the MNDefiance charity.
